Wacky Wednesday | New Year Resolutions

Happy Wednesday, guys! I know I’m posting this really late, but I have been so swamped with college applications lately. As you have probably already realized, 2015 is almost over. I have never really been the type to make resolutions for the new year, but I have decided to turn over a new leaf. Why not? It’s a new year and anything is possible.

Serena’s New Year Resolutions

  1. Cut myself some slack. I am very very hard on myself. I am super competitive, almost to a fault, and I hate myself when I am not the best at something. This year, I was to try to be more laid back. It’s no fun being so high-strung all the time.
  2. Allow myself to have fun. It’s the second semester of my senior year, I deserve to enjoy it, right? I am always so caught up in homework and responsibilities that I forget to live my life. I need to start living before it’s too late.
  3. Journal more. My journal is my favorite outlet. It helps me calm down when I am overwhelmed, and it brings out my creative side. However, I always seem to neglect my journal. 2016 will be different.
  4. Learn how to use Photoshop. This one goes without saying. My photos are obviously subpar, and I need to step it up a bit. Here is an example of something I did on Photoshop the other day. I learned how to make a double-exposed photo and combined my nephew with the city of Chicago. 1
  1. Read more. I absolutely love to read, but I always say that I don’t have the time for it. This year, there will be no excuses. I will read as much as I can.

That’s all I can think of at the moment. What are your New Year resolutions?

xoxo serena

Trendy Tuesday | Christmas in South Texas

Happy Tuesday, folks! I may be officially out for winter break, but my life is still as hectic as ever *insert crying emoji here*. My family and I are moving (yay), which means most of my cute clothes are packed away in boxes (boo). We had to go out of town to run some errands today, so I dug out this simple denim shift dress and tan flats to throw on. I am a big fan of bargains, thrifting, and not paying full price for anything, and this outfit is the perfect example. Also, if you’re wondering why the heck I’m wearing a dress in late December…I live in (very) South Texas, and it unfortunately was 80 degrees today.

Dress: T-J-Maxx find (Similar Here+this one has pockets!)

Shoes: Target

Necklace: Kendra Scott

Satchel: Ralph Lauren

Happy early Christmas!

Music Monday | Current “Most Listened To” Songs

A close and admirable friend of mine once called me the Indiana Jones of music. Having never watched any of the Indiana Jones movies (are there multiple?), I was–and still am–quite unsure of whether or not that should be considered a compliment. Nevertheless, let’s just pretend that what he meant by that is I’m a music goddess and am not afraid to adventure into untreaded musical territory. In that case, I totally agree!

With that being said, let’s move on to what you came here for: music! These songs are not necessarily new. Some may actually be many decades old. However, they are the most listened to songs on my playlist as of right now. Enjoy!

3.Cocoon by Catfish and the Bottlemen  *Warning: Explicit*

I have had a love affair with all things rock ‘n roll since at least the age of 14. This British indie rock band definitely satisfies my inner rocker chick. I love the entire “The Balcony” EP, but Cocoon has been my favorite since I’ve watched the music video. I’m pretty sure my love for this song stems from my secret desire to be punk and a rebel of society (LOL).

2. Into the Ocean by Blue October

This is probably the most popular song by this Texas quintet, but it is definitely a good one. This has been my go-to song for every car ride throughout the last month. Sometimes, I find leader singer, Justin Furstenfeld’s voice to be a bit creepy (especially in Sway), but I have to admit… I dig it.

1. Beware the Dog by The Griswolds *Warning: Explicit*

At first I couldn’t decide whether or not I liked this song, and now it’s the most the most played song on my playlist. It’s very cheerful and upbeat and can easily get stuck in your head for the rest of the day, so be careful!

Summary Sunday | How This Blogging Thing Is Going To Work

Hiya. I took a smallish break from posting because I really wanted to think about how I wanted to run this blog before I dove headfirst into things. My goal for this post is to thoroughly explain how this blog thing is going to work for me.

At the start of this blog, I knew I wanted a structured schedule, but I was afraid that my crazy school life would stop me from keeping with it. I also was not quite sure what direction I wanted to go with my blog. After some brainstorming, I think I have these things figured out.

I will post weekly–sometimes more than once a week, but this will probably be rare. Every week I will post the next consecutive day. For example, I am posting this on Sunday so next week I will post on Monday, the next week, Tuesday. So on and so forth. Everyday of the week will have a specific theme that will help me from getting writer’s block.

Summary Sunday: My goal for Sundays is just to blog about general updates about my life. These posts will range anywhere from lighted hearted tales to serious business. They will be a chance for me to catch up on things and just chat about how my life is coming along.

Music Monday: Like most teenagers, I loooooove music, and I devote hours upon hours to discovering new favorite bands and songs. Mondays are the days that I will share my newest favorite songs with all of you.

Trendy Tuesday: Tuesday will be the day that I will blog about my style, whether it’s a cute outfit I sported recently or my current loves in the fashion industry.

Wacky Wednesday: This theme is just an excuse to post about whatever I would like to.

Travel Thursday: I love to travel, but I don’t get to visit new places very often. Hopefully, by the time I have to write a thursday post,  I’ll have visited some place interesting. If not, I’ll just write about my future travel plans.

Favorites Friday: On Friday weeks, I will post about my favorite products, brands, stores, and maybe even memories.

Serena Saturday: I couldn’t think of anything so Saturdays will be simple. I will share one fact about me.

Besides these weekly posts, there may be some times that I want to share something with my blogging community that doesn’t quite fit under any of these categories. These posts can pretty much be about anything and can pretty much be posted a any time.

I hope this post makes sense. It makes sense in my mind, but that doesn’t mean much.

Until next week,

Hello, World.

Hello, world. This blog launch has been a long time in the making. However, I feel that it is (finally) time to share my life with whoever is willing to read. Let’s start out with a bit of an introduction, shall we?

I am Serena–Rena for short–and this is my “lifestyle” blog. I decided on lifestyle blogging because 1. I really wanted to be a blogger and 2. I don’t have the motivation to dress nice enough to be considered a fashion blog, so lifestyle it was. I am currently a high school senior, who is realizing that “senioritis” is an all too real and tragic phenomenon. When I am not rehearsing for a play, finishing my homework last minute, or trying to apply to college, I can probably be found reading a Harry Potter novel, trying to figure out how to work photoshop, or belting Elton John’s Bennie and the Jets at the top of my lungs. You can thank my mom and dad for that last one.

Well, that is pretty much who I am in a nutshell. Enjoy a couple super awkward photos of me. Like I said, I’m still trying to figure out this whole Photoshop thing.

Thanks for stopping by! I look foward to growing the Royal Introvert community and getting to know my readers. See ya!
